When you are ready to revolutionize yourself and begin a fruitful journey in this world, you should learn that those who survive the longest are not the strongest, the most intelligent, the kindest, the most loving, or those who are deeply God-fearing.

Those who survive the longest are the ones who learn how to adapt to changes and how to make adjustments to their behaviors, thought patterns, and emotions in response to evolving environments and circumstances.

Those who survive and thrive are those who have learned how to let go of what they learned yesterday for what they should know today.

Those who survive and thrive are those who understand that nothing remains the same forever.

They understand that what worked yesterday may not work today.

They don't repeat exactly what their fathers did. They learn the old ways, dissect it through the mirrors of the present, and modify it to fit into the predictable future.

They are not held back by bitterness, trapped by ego, overshadowed by failures or successes, or the fear of making anew.

Now, the question is:

Do you have the ability to let go of your ancient beliefs?

Do you have the humility to accept change and move past emotional attachment to the knowledge you once held closely?

Here are facts you should keep close to your heart when you desire to become a public social media figure.

1. Thousands of people commit suc!de because of cyber bullying every year across the world. This includes celebrities and innocent teens. You will be mercilessly attacked by all manner of people.

2. At least 20% of people who follow you are silently watching, waiting, and wishing that you get into a problem that will disgrace you so that they will beat their chest with a smile and say “I said it.”

3. You will get all kinds of messages. Some will come to give you unsolicited advice, some will send you foolish harmless messages, many will come to beg for one thing or the other and when you are unable to attend to them all, some will become bitter and call you arrogant, stingy, and use very mean words against you and your family.

4. Lots of your followers are perfectionists. They are there to find every little fault, every little misstep, every misplaced punctuation. They will judge even the color of your clothes and how you should have done what they themselves never attempted to do.

5. You will lose your peace, you will constantly be pressured to live up to expectations. This is why some people wake up one day and delete their social media handles.

So, until you are ready to face all of these things with a thick skin, please, remain hidden. If I post some of the messages I receive on a daily, even you will be afraid for my life.

This street is a rough one especially for people like me who do not shy away from speaking our truths no matter who it hurts.

I have a lot of enemies. Some were made because of my posts against religious bandits. Some were made because of my inability to give financial assistance and then there are others who, if you ask them why they hate that me, they would tell you that he writes as if he knows everything. Lastly, there are others who now hate me because I have not been able to respond to all the thousands of messages in my inbox and provide solution to all their problems.

If these sort of things still bothers me, I would have long quit social media. But we have grown above that level. The love we give and receive is far superior to the hate and bitterness crawling in the hearts of a few victims of frustration. So, while you pray to grow, also pray for thick skin to absorb the hate that comes with love.
