Southsidefoodco-op Mission statement: Our vision is increased food security for communities on the South Side of Chicago A grocery store for the community, owned by the community.

Southside Food Co-op (SSFC) is a Black-led, consumer/worker-owned, democratically run cooperative that will operate a full-line grocery store that emphasizes affordable healthy foods, quality goods, and locally sourced products on the South Side of Chicago. SSFC’s vision is to strengthen, stimulate, and sustain ongoing pride in the community. A Better Way of Eating, Business, Living, and Life. Thi

s cooperative project will not only expand access to healthy food and create jobs in low-income neighborhoods, but it will also spark future cooperative development and tackle multiple equity issues with a business model that empowers those directly affected by these issues. Bringing access to healthy foods to the neighborhood and creating jobs have a long-term potential to improve the health outcomes for those Southside Food Co-op will serve.

We are an up and coming Black-led Food Co-op. We network our owners and their services creating a ecosystem of support. We don't want to be controlled by a bank, so we offer shares for $100. There's work that comes with ownership!

Events like this is how we give back while building our numbers.

As a Member-Owner, we pick the farmers, the products and most of all, we control the legacy.
