Our Story
Beginning
Forty Acres Fresh Market was founded in response to a dearth of affordable, fresh food options on Chicago's Westside. The need for cash for a simple errand quickly led to discovering a paucity of banks, pharmacies, and groceries, but an abundance of fast food options, corner stores, and dollar retailers. Juxtaposing this environment against the plethora of supermarket options one can choose from on Chicago's Northside, including several low-cost produce grocers, it was obvious that something similar should exist everywhere in Chicago.
On January 20, 2018 Forty Acres Fresh Market launched its first pop-up market at Sankofa Cultural Arts and Business to much positive customer feedback. We carried a full selection of fresh fruits and vegetables at an everyday low price.
