Thanks for all the good thoughts during this week's cold blast! We made it through a-okay, thankfully. We are booked up for tomorrow's deliveries, but you are welcome to place orders for delivery next Thursday. And Palatine area folks- the next market is Jan 18th. We had to close preorders early in December because we ended up swamped, so we recommend placing preorders asap.

And don't worry - this is Jaime BEFORE the crazy cold started. None of us were smiling during chores in that!

"35 Hours in Chicago" from the NY Times, 1PM Saturday includes a mention of our beloved Crumb Bread and Co-op Sauce "In the Edgewater neighborhood, Sauce and Bread Kitchen is worth the trip. This collaboration between Crumb bakery and Co-op Hot Sauce has a B.Y.O. (vodka) Bloody Mary bar ($12.99 for house-made mix, pickles and beef sticks for four) and wonderful sandwiches (from $5.99) like grilled eggplant with a pimento spread. Half of Co-op Hot Sauce’s profits support a local arts nonprofit."

Congratulations to chef Iliana Regan and her Lincoln Square Elizabeth Restaurant for earning a Michelin star! Iliana was one of our first Empty Bottle Farmers' Market vendors and sold her one Sister Inc. pierogi at our February 2010 market.

A little more than a year ago, Chicago chef Iliana Regan opened her first restaurant Elizabeth, named for her late sister and based on her successful underground supper club....
