My heart bleeds deeply today as a mother. I cannot stop thinking about the condition of those abducted children and the unbearable pain their mothers must be going through. Imagine a mother hiding in fear with her three children in the bush, uncertain of what tomorrow holds for them. It is heartbreaking to admit that not all of them may make it back alive. Their only “crime” was being born in a country where insecurity has become a daily reality.
Today is Children’s Day, yet many Nigerian children cannot even enjoy the basic rights every child deserves quality education, safety, good roads, stable electricity, and a secure future. These innocent children simply went to school in search of a better life, even though education itself no longer guarantees hope or success as we were once taught.
To the government, this is a painful reminder that the protection of lives, especially children, should never be neglected. A nation that cannot protect its children is failing its future.
My prayers are with every affected family. May God comfort the grieving and anxious mothers, strengthen the fathers, protect the innocent children, and bring every single one of them home safely. May peace, security, and healing return to our nation.
To the parents of these children, please try to stay strong and take care of your health despite the pain and fear, so you will be able to receive your children in good health and with joy when they finally return home.
Happy Children’s Day to every Nigerian child. May brighter and safer days come for our nation. 🇳🇬😭
