Teaching my own kids and my students about the life cycle of chickens is my favorite part of this crazy world. Watching the journey from egg to chick to hen never gets old, and it opens the door to so many meaningful conversations. Sometimes we even have to step in and help a chick hatch when it becomes shrink wrapped, and I use that as a powerful teaching moment for everyone. The life cycle itself teaches little minds so much—about growth, patience, responsibility, and the delicate balance of life. It’s a hands-on reminder that learning isn’t just something you read about, it’s something you experience, care for, and sometimes gently help along the way. Some people dye eggs for Easter we wait for the incubator to beep knowing we are waking up for chicks on Easter morning. These are the days I hope my kids remember for life. Not just my own kids but my kids in the classroom will hopefully remember Easter break and coming back to chicks hatching years and years later that Mrs. Ariel brought that experience to life for them.

As you may have heard, we are hatching eggs in our classroom this year! 🐣 I am lucky to be able to homestead/farm and be apart of my kids’ school everyday!!

This project is such a special way to bring farm life right into our classroom and give students a hands-on learning experience they will never forget. It’s an amazing to watch their curiosity grow each day!

I want to give a huge thank you to the 12 farms and coops we visited to collect eggs—whether they were donated or offered at a discounted rate. We are beyond grateful for your generosity and support in making this experience possible!

Many want to follow along on our hatching journey so I will be posting on my farm page for everyone to see!

This is Hennifer, she is our mama hen in class! I’m excited to share that we are currently on day 8 of incubation, and the eggs are thriving. Our expected hatch day is April 8th, and we can’t wait!

We are very excited to have other classes come visit our classroom, we are so thankful for the opportunity to help young students learn all about the chicken life cycle. 💛

This space used to feel impossible.

Overgrown, crowded, and forgotten… it was hard to even imagine what it could become. But somewhere in the middle of all those tangled bushes and towering bamboo, we saw something more. We saw potential. We saw a dream. And little by little, step by step, that dream started to take shape.

It wasn’t easy. It took long days, sore muscles, patience, and a whole lot of faith in a vision we couldn’t fully see yet. But we kept going holding onto the idea of what this space could be.

Now it’s more than just a garden. It’s proof that visions can become reality. That something once overwhelming can be transformed into something beautiful, peaceful, and full of life.

Every corner of this space tells a story of where we started… and how far we’ve come.🤍

When I met my husband 8 years ago, his “garden” was two shabby pallet planter boxes with a few pots around them. Every year after that, our garden grew a little more. We turned it into three big boxes, then moved it to make an even bigger garden. The year after that we added more boxes, then a watering system, and every year since we kept expanding.

Now our garden is finally in its forever home. While we’ve loved and made the best of all the gardens before it, this one is going to be the best yet.

Looking back at all the pictures over the years, I really have to give credit to my husband. All the moving around, the prep work just to build the boxes, leveling out new areas every time we relocated the garden, every shovel full of soil scooped, some days it was in the pouring rain, every water line installed, and every piece of cattle fence bent into place. He did everything from start to finish no shortcuts. There’s not enough words in the world to explain how much of a hard worker he really is!

I truly can’t thank my husband enough for building our dream garden and for all the work he has put into every garden along the way. You are one in a million. 🌿
