Brandon checked the fields bright and early, and more fall peas are coming soon! Before long, we’ll have purple hull peas coming out our ears and that’s exactly how we like it! 😂

We’re claiming the rain headed our way because these fields are thirsty, and those peas need a good soaking! 🌧️🙏🏻

To everyone on our waiting list: hang tight! Your mouthwatering purple hull peas are growing and will be arriving as soon as we get them. We’re working our way down the list as quickly as Mother Nature allows!

☀️ HOT, DRY, AND DUSTY! HAPPY FRIDAY, August 21st, FROM NORTH LOUISIANA!

🚨 PLEASE NOTE: We will be CLOSED tomorrow, Saturday, August 22nd. We will reopen Monday morning, ready for another busy week here at the farm!

The dust is flying so thick around Watts Fresh Produce that we’re pretty sure we cleaned the same spots at least three times today! You wipe something down, turn around for five minutes, and it looks like nobody has touched it since 1998. 🤦‍♀️😂

Since Mother Nature refuses to send us any rain, we’ve spent the last couple of days deep cleaning the office and working around the farm and giving the peas more time to grow. Everything is as clean as we can get it..and with this North Louisiana heat and dust, you’ll just have to take our word for it! 🤪

We’re hot, we’re dry, we’re dusty but we’re thankful. Now, if somebody could PLEASE kindly point those rain clouds toward 670 Walker Road AND towards Louisiana, we would surely appreciate it! 🙏🌧️ Our fields desperately need a good rain! We’re picking peas but not at the volume we should be.

This Louisiana heat is working on ALL of us, and apparently our little walk-up cooler couldn’t take the pressure because it got “stung” and said, NO WORKY NO MORE! 🥵😂

It’s Monday, the kids are back in school around here, purple hull peas are flying all over the USA, and our cooler is officially dropping out of the class! 📚✈️🫛

But never fear, Brandon is on it, the peas are still moving, and Watts Fresh Produce is doing what farmers do best…fixing problems, sweating through shirts, and keeping the whole show rolling! When it rains, it pours…except around here, it’s just sweat and repairs! 😂

Sunday, August 16th 🇺🇸 One pea 🫛 at a time and one problem at a time. Y’all, it isn’t even funny out here, it’s HOT in Louisiana, it’s HUMID in Louisiana, and every single one of these pea fields have to be picked BY HAND by our amazing workers. 🥵🔥 We are beyond grateful for everyone here. Late season watermelons are thriving because we have to water….lots of water to get more. 💦

There’s no air-conditioning in a pea field. No shade between the rows and when something breaks in the middle of field, you just gotta stop and get it done. Just the blazing sun, heavy humidity, and our hardworking guys bending, picking, and filling one sack after another. It’s tough, backbreaking work that most people will never see, but it’s what it takes to get fresh peas from our fields.

Please remember the hands behind your food, and say a little prayer for everyone, not just farmers working in this heat, say a prayer for everyone! 🇺🇸 🙏🏼☀️

📦 SHIPPING UPDATE: No packages will leave the farm today. We’re not taking any chances on your peas getting delayed or misplaced over the weekend. Beginning Monday, we’ll ship packages Monday through Thursday every week…until the very last purple hull pea is sold on this farm and we have lots to pick and shell.
