Shurdell Taylor, a gentle giant, was a nice, quiet, lovable man. He passed away November 6th, 2025. He worked at Clifton Market, starting as a doorman and later cashier. He will be fondly remembered.

September 18, 2025 Clifton Market Report

Tom: This is Tom Lohre with Mr. Singh. We're talking about the current state of the market.

Singh: Thank you for all your effort and hard work, and you know we appreciate it.
I wish I had some better news, but the news is still the same. We're trying everything we can to keep the store operational and get it back to the level where it needs to be. I wake up every day doing and go to sleep doing that. Hoping that things will line up here soon. That's our goal. There are distributors that we are working with. It's coming up with an agreement that works for both parties. It has taken a little bit longer than I thought. But at this moment, we're keeping this store open at a loss. The goal is to look for alternative options that should have happened a long time ago. I am committed to this store, and I want this store to be here for the community. I love this store. And it's just a hurdle that I'm facing at the moment, but we're going to get over it.

Tom: Thank you. I'm here to ask the tough questions.

Singh: Hopefully our next interview will be a little bit better. We will walk the store as we're redoing the shelves. It might seem like nothing is changing, everything is the same week in and week out. I'm working extremely hard behind the scenes, trying to get this thing working. If I feel like I'm not getting anywhere, I see this store back!

Charlie Winburn Raves About Clifton Market

Howdy again, this is a wonderful time in the cafe, I ran into Charlie Winburn. “How's things going for dinner?” Excellent, I'm Charlie Winburn, I used to be the county treasurer and I was on Cincinnati City Council off and on for 15 years. Let me just tell you about Clifton Market. When I was on council I've supported this place from day one. I'm here every week! By the way when I first started I was about 178 lbs, now I'm about 146 lbs. I've lost about 32 lbs. I'm pretty much vegan. I come here and get my fresh fruits and vegetables. They have the best of fresh fruits and vegetables in town. I'm here every week! What I really like about this place is they take my checks! This is a wonderful place to be and I want to encourage all those that are listening to me right now: You need to be here. I'm asking. I believe the mayor lives in this town. I want Clifton to really support these people here at Clifton Market. They do a great job. They have great products. I'm here every week. I just ran into this great lad. It's just good to see him.
