One of the hens I brought in didn’t make it. That’s a total loss of 7 hens and 2 drakes 😭
Obviously our egg production is going to be down. I will be looking for new laying hens to add to my flock, but won’t be getting many eggs for awhile. I apologize to those looking forward to getting eggs.

Our flock was attacked by something and we lost 8 babies. 6 of which were hens. I currently have 2 hens in the house trying to keep from losing them too. These are not just egg producers, these are my pets. I lost some very important ducks to my soul. I’m in low spirits 😩

Disclaimer:
1. I only rinse my eggs clean to save the outer coating that keeps the eggs fresh longer. I NEVER use chemicals on my eggs.
2. I have drakes so my eggs are fertilized. This means I cannot control the very rare occurrence of a blood or meat spot in an egg. I do however not have a problem making this mistake incident right for you if you let me know.
3. I guarantee that the eggs I sell are less than a week old. Most are only 1-3 days old.

Quack Fact:
Hens(female ducks) are the only ones who truly quack. Drakes(male ducks) make more of a nasal, deep “wack wack” sound. You can use this method to determine the s*x of a duck at about 6-8 weeks old as the Duck’s voice changes from a Peeping/chirping noise to their adult voice.

Quick Fact:
Drakes (male ducks) have a high and violent s*x drive and therefore, the ratio in a flock of ducks must be about 3+ hens(females) per each drake. Having a more equal ratio or having more drakes than hens could lead to hen injuries or deaths!
