Truth...
"Do what you feel in your heart to be right, for you'll be criticized anyway. You'll be damned if you do, and damned if you don't." -Eleanor Roosevelt
Farmers are told how to best raise their livestock from folks who have never seen a pig in real life.
The farmer tries to explain. Begs to be trusted. But, ultimately, they keep their head down. They do the best they can. They follow their heart.
They are told to be better, more modern, more sustainable, but then told they have lost their roots. They've lost the picturesque farm.
The farmer is confused. Why are the latest updates to phones and cars and computers celebrated, but not the latest farm updates? You don't see people begging to go back to 10 day shipping when they can have 2 day Prime. Why do they ask for the farm to go back?
Again, the farmer does the best they can, and they follow their heart.
Activists wager how bad it will be during this hurricane season. They predict disaster on farms. Of course, the blame lies at the feet of the farmer.
Meanwhile, the farmer just shakes their head. They set aside the latest criticism and go back to work. It's the story of their lives--they are criticized no matter what.
And so, they continue to do what is right in their heart, because they'll be damned if they do, and damned if they don't. They continue, head down, hands busy, heart set...producing food for us all.
