It’s Spring! Time to refocus and blossom
📌Summary of our last newsletter📌
We updated our Terms and Conditions to help us maintain a safe, positive, and well‑run environment for everyone, and ensure our events continue to reflect the standards and community values we’re committed to upholding.
Our ‘G+F Artisan Market’ and ‘G+F Youth Craft Market,’ were abruptly ended after Old North State Food Hall closed with less than 2 weeks notice. We are working hard to find solutions for you guys!
🫶After consulting with our vendors, we have made the decision to cancel our May 2nd event. The 40th Ham and Yam Festival (held at the same time and less than 15 minutes away) is expected to draw more than 20,000 attendees. Given the size and draw of that event, it is unlikely that the crowd would travel to our location. To support our vendors and ensure they receive meaningful foot traffic AND do not waste their time, we believe it is in everyone’s best interest to avoid overlapping with such a large regional festival.
🌱 New Partnership Announcement🌱
Starting this month we are officially sponsored by the NC Agriculture Extension - Johnston County! This partnership means expanded marketing, additional volunteers, more vendor support, swag‑bag giveaways, & plenty of other improvements that will directly benefit our markets + our community. We are excited to show all the improvements at our May 15th and 16th events!
💬Vendor Fees💬
Beginning May 1st we are introducing a modest vendor fee to help cover essential operational costs (such as expanded marketing, improved insurance, upgraded site amenities, etc), that keeps our events running smoothly. Thanks to sponsorship from the Johnston County Agriculture Extension, offering bulk discounts & options to avoid a vendor fee*, we are able to keep these fees low and accessible to all.
Sole poultry or small farm animal vendors will receive a special $5 vendor fee. This rate does not include a bulk‑discount option & allows no more than two types of craft or food items to be sold.
All large animal or exotic animal vendors, craft and artisan vendors, food vendors & food truck vendors will be subject to the following vendor fees
G+F Flock & Farm Swap: $10 per date, $15 for any two dates, or $105 for the full season
G+F Twilight Market: $10 per date, $30 any four dates, or $55 for the full season
We host 3–5 events each month, & each one requires time, resources, and funding to operate. Up until now, we’ve been covering these expenses out of pocket. Like any community-run effort, we have to make sure our work remains sustainable. As a reminder, we are volunteers, our income comes from what we sell at our own booths, not from vendor fees. Thank you for understanding and for continuing to help us build a strong, supportive vendor community. *Ask how you can donate feed, supplies, clothing, or food to local homeless outreach programs and animal rescues to participate without paying a vendor fee.

We’re excited to introduce a new way to honor the incredible vendors who make our markets what they are. Each month, we’ll recognize standout vendors from the previous month’s events (celebrating creativity, community spirit, craftsmanship, & more).
Alongside our monthly awards, we’ll also be spotlighting one vendor each week on our social media. Whether they’re brand‑new faces or longtime regulars, these features give everyone a chance to learn their stories, discover their work, & strengthen the sense of community that makes our markets thrive.
