This picture best describes how the feeling is at the farm today, the end of the day is inevitable. I got a text from our landlord at 12:49 today wanting me to call him when I had a chance. I called him immediately to see what was up. He had a call from the people developing the property next door about purchasing our property, which we were told we would have first right of purchase, on Friday. He made told them a price but we were not included or notified of this discussion and they excepted the offer. I asked if we could come up with the money if we could purchase it, since we were supposed to have first right of refusal, and was told I had to come up with the amount by the end of today, remember this is Sunday at 12:49. So basically it's already signed and we had no idea this was even going on. Our plans of building the farm back, to even half the size we were, are only a dream in the past now. We have about a year, since we had just signed our yearly agreement, to find a new home. Thanks for everyone's support over the last 20 years, 10 years here. "A man's word is all you have, so stick to your word".

Not sure where to go from here.
I haven't posted in a while, trying to make sense of it all, and probably won't be posting for good while after this. The chickens never laid more than about 25 dz eggs for four days straight, then they dropped to 4 dz and nothing the last 3 weeks. I took a few to the poultry lab to have them tested because they looked fine, except for a few every now and then with a sinus infection. The test came back a week ago and they have a chicken cold that henders their laying, but it doesn't transfer to humans. We can treat the symptoms, the sinus infection, but once they get it, they're always a carrier of it, even with no obvious symptoms. Chickens we sold when we first got this batch didn't get it because I've asked those people if theirs were showing any signs of it, just ours in the last few months. I guess that's par for this year because we've had plenty of strange things happening around here. We started with 10 chickens, back when we were farming for ourselves, 20 years ago and have never had any sick chickens. I have about 200 more to kill, out of 3,500 chickens, and bury before they're all gone. That's the hardest part, besides knowing there's $95,000 we won't ever get back going in the ground, putting what looks like perfectly good chickens in the ground, when I'm used to putting down injured animals which still isn't easy but has to be done. I'm just tired of killing. This is the one that we may not be able to overcome. We'll try and we won't quit but I don't know if that's enough this time. If anyone is needing any remodeling, carpentry or grading done, I could use the work. Thanks for trusting us this long for providing y'all with food, sorry we can't now. Contact Yonah Mountain Farms for your clean meats in the mean time time.

The chickens are laying a little more each day. We're not out of the woods yet, but we'll take what they are laying. We have eggs in the cooler in front of our store gate. We're going to try and keep it stocked so customers can get eggs any day of the week. You can put cash in the zip lock bag in the cooler, until we get a cash box, or you can venmo. The venmo link will be in the comments of this post and eggs are $6 a dz. Thanks for supporting local clean farmers.

People always ask how we protect the chickens from predators, especially hawks since they're in the air. Well, these dogs know their job and are dang good at it. This is the second hawk I've seen taken down by our Lgd's. Great job pups.

With the weather settling down, no more extreme heat or crazy storms, the chickens are starting to lay, not all of them or enough to pay for their feed, but a good many of them. If anyone needs eggs, non gmo corn and soy free, just message me on here or call and we can meet you at the store. Since we don't have anything else to sell at this time, it doesn't make sense to have the store open. We want to thank everyone again that has donated, prayed or helped out in other ways. Some may not have seen our posts, so share away. We are so close to our goal to keeping things going and hopefully start to build back our business after watching everything that we've built in the last 18 years slip away. Thanks again for supporting local clean farmers.

We've had some customers say that we needed to let everyone know what all is going on and that we needed to ask for help. I've done a couple of small odd jobs but its going to take a lot more than that. This Gofund me is for helping us to save the farm, stay in business, because of the problems we've had with losing our egg production, not the harassment we've had. There's more details in the funding page.
As far as the harassment, we found out that 8 days after animal control closed their case about us, do to a false report, one of the supervisors turned around and called the Ag department and filled the same false complaint. What it boiled down to is they were mad because I wouldn't let them on the property, since I knew there were no issues with our birds, and they tried to get back at me by abusing their power and trying to find anything to get us on. When I explained to the Ag department what animal control was doing, basically using them just to try and cause us more trouble, the Ag department told them they knew of our farm, they have our correct permits on file and if there is any new permits needed the Ag department would discuss it directly with us and the correct department, not with animal control. Basically they told them to kick rocks, they were sticking their nose into things that they don't even regulate or know about. Again, we thank everyone for their support and prayers along the way. Please share and get the word out, we want things to get back to normal, just farming. Im also going to link our https://cash.app/$TovaBall and our https://venmo.com/u/Tova-Ball in case you don't want to use Gofund me.

We won't be open this weekend, I'm here by myself and I'm scraping the glass door freezers, so the store is a mess.
I got a call from the Ag department, at this point its harassment at minimum, saying they had a complaint about our chickens. They wouldn't tell me who but the only person that has told me they called the Ag department was the Hall County animal control supervisor, which he has no business calling because he said he was just checking to see if we had all of our licenses. We don't need a license to own chickens and that's the only business animal control had with me. The animal control case about us was also closed last Wednesday, because there were no issues, but the animal control supervisor didn't call the Ag department until this Wednesday. The Ag department woman that called never mentioned any licenses, nor did she ask anything about the business/ food sales side of it. We are pulling an open records request to see who made the false complaint with the Ag department. It seems like someone is fishing, trying to find something wrong, just to hurt us. This is fixing to get blown up. Small farms have a hard enough time trying to make ends meet on a regular basis, then add in $250 a day for feed with no income yet and being harassed over a complete lie from a Hall County employee passing by and now evidently Hall County animal control making the same false complaint after telling me case is closed because there isn't/wasn't anything wrong with the chickens to begin with. I apologize a head of time if I'm short with anyone, that didn't deserve it, this is just a glimpse of what we are having to deal with.
