Fine Art Wood Burnings by Terry A. Cooper

This page was set up to spotlight Terry A. Cooper's art work, primarily his fine art wood burnings. Terry Cooper "Coop" has been drawing since he was 6 years old, and painting with oils since he was 10. He sold his first painting at age 12 and many more throughout his life. He has won several awards and scholarships for his oil paintings but began doing wood burnings in early 2013. He entered his

first wood burning art into the Montgomery County Fair and won first place. Terry Cooper loves the art of wood burning and explains that it incorporates all of his skills that he's learned over the years. He first draws the work, then shades it with the burning irons, carefully, and slowly adding layer upon layer of shading until he's satisfied. He loves adding the tiniest of details that his wood burning irons will allow, to the point of using magnifying lenses. This sets his work apart from many other wood burning artists. Terry Cooper grew up in a military family. His father spent 21 years in the military. This enabled him to learn from many artists from various parts of the world. Terry also served 4 years in the military after he graduated from High school. He's worked in the construction field and recently retired from the Houston Fire Department after almost 31 years, attaining the rank of a fire suppression Sr. Captain. He can now dedicate more time to his love of wood burning.
