This is the reality of farming. We have had a couple of hard downpours and it flattened these sunflowers almost the whole bed. As you can see there is still a few standing, but we are supposed to get more rain so I guess we will see what happens. They will not stand back up. Farming has always been a chance and a prayer and it always will be.

If you bought elderberry plants from us this year and they are starting to flower like this one, make sure to cut those out as soon as possible. These plants were made from cuttings this year and you want your plant to focus on making a strong root ball and plant. If you let it flower the plant will put all of it’s energy into producing the flowers which turn into berries and it will weaken your plant greatly, so be sure to check yours and get those guys cut out.

Looking forward to seeing everyone at market tomorrow. Come shop local for all your Mother’s Day gifts and food. We will have these beautiful bouquets along with herb, flower, and veggie plants and other plants as well. We will also have lots of fresh shiitake’s and our “skeeter beater” all natural bug repellent. All of these would make great gifts for mom, and there’s lots more at the market, so come on out.
