It’s official, our little fermented food business Cultured Awareness was inspected and approved by Ag & Markets on Friday!

It’s been quite a long time in the making. John and I first met at an intensive fermentation workshop led by Sandor Ellix Katz back in 2014, where we fermented our love 😉🤓. We began fermenting vegetables together shortly after that but never got much into the business of it because our schedules were so busy. Once we opened the natural foods co-op though, it seemed like the perfect time to get back into it so we did (busy schedules or not).

While we don’t have a large variety of products yet, we are super excited to share what we have with the community. Right now, it’s fermented shiitake mushrooms, beet kvass, and red cabbage garlic kraut (mild kimchi coming soon). They are currently being sold at Tom's Natural Foods Co-op in Clinton, NY.
