FAREWAY FINALIZING PLANS FOR A NEW STORE IN COAL VALLEY

NEWS RELEASE (COAL VALLEY, IL) – Fareway Stores, Inc. announced plans to construct an approximately 17,000 square foot store at the southeast corner of 1st Street and Route 6 in Coal Valley, IL. This project is tentatively planned for 2026.
“Communities depend on a local grocer to offer high quality products and unmatched service. We look forward to offering these qualities to Coal Valley and area residents with a new Fareway store,” said Fareway CEO Reynolds W. Cramer. “We want to thank city officials and economic development for helping make this project possible.”

The new store will provide for only the best in fresh, highest quality meat; a full-service butcher counter; farm-fresh produce; low, competitive prices; and the highest level of customer service, including to-your-car carryout. The new store will offer FastLanes, a self-service checkout option, and online shopping and curbside pick-up, available at Shop.Fareway.com.

While this is sad news for many, including the employees and families affected, we know this strengthens our cause and mission to bring a store to Coal Valley. We continue to work hard and have shared this news with other potential grocers.

With every door that closes a new one opens! Stay positive friends.

The Moline store will officially close at 6 p.m. Jan. 1.

Have not posted in awhile but it does not mean that we’re not working hard to achieve our goal.

The Census Results are in for 2020. Coal Valley gained 130 in population and increased 3.5% overall!!

When you compare Coal Valley to neighboring communities it shows that we’re definitely a place people want to live and in need of a grocery store to support our growing community.

COAL VALLEY — It’s been so long since Coal Valley had its own grocery store that people can hardly remember exactly when that was.

Thanks to Mr. Bealer for his hard work and investment in the community.

The property looks awesome and will no doubt be a huge benefit to the community regardless if a grocery store comes or not.
