Today I woke up and was ready to go outside. I thought, "it looks too nice to eat before going to play", so I pointed and grunted at the windows until my mom got the picture.
We pulled the taps and started to clean up the maple syrup mess, and made more messes. I was snoozing on the job and mom let half of the finished syrup boil over, she was disappointed. I wasn't because when I woke up grandma was over to make us waffles to eat with our so fresh it was still warm syrup!
Mom even let me scrub the pots after they were done on the stoves. She said oh boy a lot when she realized how much soot was on the dark one. Luckily she decided I was already grubby so she let me play, whoops, help clean the pot until I decided it was clean enough.
For some reason she brought me straight into the bathtub after that.
The rest of the maple season was pretty blah. I mean it was fun helping her tap the trees and stuff but most of the other boiling I was busy working on our driveway. Or dad was home and I mean mom is great but... she's just not my dad.
.
The crocus flowers popped today, mom says they're the pop up thermometers for the ground temperature, when they bloom she says the ground is defrosted enough to start writing in the garden. So this week we'll probably plant our peas, and some spinach, cauliflower, broccoli, and some radishes. Maybe even more if she has seeds for other cold hearty veggies.
