Lone Cottonwood Farm

Lone Cottonwood Farm Producers of the Finest Missouri Honey Lone Cottonwood Farm is located on a small acreage just northeast of Columbia, Missouri.

Our beekeeping adventure began in 1974 with the purchase of a single hive of bees at a farm auction. Although many things have changed over the years, our passion for working with bees and producing the highest quality honey remains the same.

Just a reminder that the Columbia Farmers Market summer season begins tomorrow, April 5th. That means extended hours 8 a.m. – Noon and an additional number of vendors. It’s all happening under the covered MU Health Care Pavilion, so a little rainy weather isn’t a problem.

Also, I want to announce that Lone Cottonwood Farm will be taking a sabbatical from the Market this year. After celebrating 50 years of beekeeping last year, it’s time to take a break, catch up on a number of things, and come back fresh again in 2026. While I’ll still be caring for the bees, I won’t be focusing on honey production and won’t have any available for sale this year.

While you’re shopping at the Market I encourage you to support the other honey vendors, as well as all those offering a wide variety of products and fresh, local produce.

Thanks for your business and support. I’ll look forward to seeing your friendly faces once again next year.

It's been a while since I've posted anything here so, first of all, I want to extend a BIG THANK YOU to all my faithful customers! 2024 is off to a great start for Lone Cottonwood Farm at the Columbia Farmers Market. In fact, so much so that my 2023 honey crop is almost exhausted. Therefore, this Saturday, April 27th will be my last day at the Market until I can harvest a fresh crop of honey from the upcoming spring and early summer nectar flows.

I'll have a good supply of honey on Saturday, so if you need to stock up, this would be a good time to do it. Come early if you can for the best selection because some container offerings will probably sell out.

Oh, and if there is a little rain in the air, no worries. We are all under the roof now at the completed MU Health Care Pavilion!

We also need to send a BIG THANK YOU to all of the CFM staff and vendors that worked so hard in getting the word out about this and getting folks to vote.

Congrats to Oxford Community Market for taking home 2nd place, Monroe Farmers' Market with 3rd place, and to all of the other markets across the country that participated! This was such a fun and exciting contest, showing the importance of all of the work we're doing TOGETHER across the country for farmers markets, farmers, artisans, and farmers market staff/volunteers. Just because this competition is over doesn't mean this momentum and our work slows down. Keep up your amazing and essential work! 🙌

Again, THANK YOU to everyone that helped us win this amazing recognition!

Lone Cottonwood Farm is an all-in-one beekeeping and honey farm. Steve Moeller's honeybees delight freely in the wildflowers in and around the property and produce honey that is extracted on-site. In return, Steve upkeeps their hives. It's a truly symbiotic relationship, the end result of which is the delectable honey and pollen that Steve brings to market. Sample some honey for yourself this Saturday at the center ambassador table at CFM. To learn more about the farm, visit https://columbiafarmersmarket.org/lonecottonwoodfarm.

CFM CANCELED THIS SATURDAY - ONLINE MARKET/CURBSIDE PICKUP REMAINS OPEN!

Brr....talk about a polar vortex! Due to the frigid temperatures and potential snow predicted this Saturday, we've decided to cancel this Saturday's market. BUT we're keeping our Online Market and curbside pickup open. If you've held off on using the store, this Saturday is a great time to give it a try!

The store is now open AND we've extended the shopping window through Friday at 12 pm this week! Shop at columbiafarmersmarket.org/shop.

Ordered items can be picked up at the One Room Schoolhouse (right next to the market), Saturday from 9:30 am-11:30 am.

Canceling the market is always a challenging decision for CFM, as our vendors depend on their weekly sales. Through shopping via the Online Market, you can still support your local vendors, and get your local groceries! It's a win-win and we all can stay warm and safe this weekend!

If you have any questions or need any help navigating the store, don't hesitate to reach out to us!
