A neighbor called that there was a snapping turtle in the middle of the road in front of the house. So I get a shovel and move her off the road in the grass.

An hour later I go check if it moved and it was on the road again 🙄100 yards closer to the crick. So I get my shovel and put her right by the crick.

FYI this was probably a female. They lay eggs in fields, away from water, this time of year. She was probably returning to the crick after laying her eggs.

Even after many years of farming watching the miracle of putting seeds in the ground and seeing plants grow is humbling.

The weather broke at the perfect time to get the pumpkins planted this week.

A few dry days allowed the corn maze to get planted earlier this week.

Doing a test today to see the feasibility of replacing our hayrides to the pumpkin patch with blimp rides. 😉

Yesterday I saw a bald eagle grab a fish out of our pond. It was back today but the fishing wasn’t as good.

Took advantage of a sunny, windy day and started plowing the pumpkin patch ground. The field was soybeans last year. After the beans were harvested we planted rye for a cover crop. The rye helps to limit erosion, suppresses weeds, holds nutrients, and adds organic matter to the soil.
