Memorial Day, the official start to summer. But the real reason...to honor those that gave their lives so we can freely celebrate that beginning to summer. Thank you to those who have given the ultimate sacrifice from our Country's birth and all those that protect us every day. We celebrate you!

Your reputation enters before you do. Before you speak, before you explain, before you defend yourself, your name has already begun answering.

People remember patterns. They remember what you kept and what you broke. They remember whether your words held weight when the moment became difficult. A name is not made by what a person claims. It is made by what others have watched repeated over time.

This is why the old wisdom gives such weight to reputation. In Hávamál, cattle die, kin die, the body dies but the good name endures for the one who has earned it. That is not soft encouragement. It is a warning. The life behind the name matters because the name will carry what the life has proven, nothing more and nothing less.

A person may speak well in the hall. They may explain themselves carefully and shape their words with skill. Words do not erase conduct. If the deeds behind the name are strong, the name stands before them like a witness. If the deeds are weak, the name answers against them before they ever open their mouth.

This was clearly understood. Standing was built through visible conduct, through oath keeping, restraint, courage, hospitality, and the discipline of doing what one said. The life and the words had to know each other, and when they did not, the words collapsed under the weight of what the life had already shown.

Guard your name by living in a way that needs less defense.
