✅Here’s a fun fact about Monterey Jack cheese: It was originally made by Franciscan monks in Monterey, California, in the 1700s, but the cheese got its modern name from David Jack, a 19th-century businessman.

David Jack was a Scottish immigrant who became a wealthy landowner in California. He realized the monks’ semi-soft, creamy cheese had commercial potential, so he started mass-producing and selling it under the name "Jack’s cheese from Monterey"—which eventually became "Monterey Jack."

It remains one of the most popular cheeses in the U.S., and variations like Pepper Jack (with spicy peppers) have made it even more famous!
