Sustainability is a word that has meaning in many different contexts: ecological, economical, and environmental but is most often used today to refer to a movement that is more of a social and ethical challenge to us to conduct business or lifestyle without unnecessary depletion or destruction or pollution of our natural resources. Examples of practices that may reduce the negative human impact on
our environment are developing green technologies or making individual adjustments in lifestyle to conserve our natural resources. Our goals include:
Providing as much local and fresh food as possible at a full service grocery store open to the public
Promoting a more sustainable community where our resources are not depleted, polluted or destroyed
Keeping money in the local economy by supporting local farming and other locally produced goods & services
Offering good jobs with honest wages for local residents
Growing a large community of member-owners who, in turn, invest their money in a growing economy
