Tiny but extraordinary — a bee’s brain may be as small as a sesame seed, yet it can recognize and remember human faces. Nature keeps proving that intelligence is not measured by size. Bees are essential for pollination, biodiversity, and the food we eat every day. Protecting bees means protecting the balance of our planet and the future of life itself.

Praying mantises are NOT the beneficial garden insect you think they are.

→ They're INDISCRIMINATE predators — they eat anything they can catch
→ Butterflies, honeybees, native bees, hoverflies — all pollinators are prey
→ They eat ladybugs and spiders (which ARE beneficial predators)
→ Large mantises catch and eat HUMMINGBIRDS (documented, filmed, studied)
→ They don't target "pests" — they target whatever is closest

The "release mantis egg cases" trend:
→ Garden centers sell mantis egg cases as "natural pest control"
→ Each case releases 100-200 baby mantises
→ Most will eat each other (cannibalism is common)
→ Survivors eat WHATEVER insects are available — including beneficial ones
→ Many sold cases are Chinese mantises (an INTRODUCED, non-native species)
→ Non-native mantises may outcompete native mantis species

Better biological pest control:
→ Ladybugs: eat aphids specifically
→ Lacewings: eat aphids, whiteflies, small caterpillars
→ Parasitic wasps: target specific pests precisely
→ Ground beetles: eat slugs and soil-dwelling pests
→ ATTRACT these by planting native plants — don't buy and release

Mantises are FASCINATING:
→ 360° head rotation
→ Only insect with stereo vision (3D depth perception)
→ Incredible ambush predators
→ They're amazing to watch

But "beneficial"?

Only if you don't mind them eating your bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds too. 🐝❌
