This Saturday, May 9, we are delighted to welcome new vendor Biscuitwood Farm. This week they will be bringing cool season plants, all safe to plant now, all in compostable pots. They aim to be single use plastic-free:

-Tender and woody herbs
-Hardy greens (Kale, Chard)
-Cabbages, Broccoli and Cauliflower
-Potted greens mixes: Arugula, mesclun, salad bowl mix

*Limited summer crops (More next week):
Heirloom tomatoes, Cherry tomatoes, Paste tomatoes, Oxheart tomatoes, Sweet and hot peppers, Eggplant, Tomatillos, Ground Cherries, Cucumbers, Summer squash, Winter squash and Pumpkins. Sunflowers and Zinnias.

Perennials: Egyptian Walking Onions, Rhubarb, Black Currants, Gooseberries

Happy May! Reminder the Cooperstown Farmers Market is NOW open 9AM - 2PM on Saturdays! One more hour to shop local and support your local farmers and artisans!

Join Miss Jen tomorrow 5/2 from 10AM - Noon for an Earth Day themed craft - vegetable and flower seed planting! The first Saturday of each month, the Farmers’ Market offers free, hands-on activities for kids with Miss Jen. Every Saturday there are kid-sized picnic tables and coloring fun.

Also at the market this Saturday is Cornell Cooperative Extension Schoharie and Otsego Counties promoting their Grow a Row program which is a community-driven initiative that encourages gardeners to plant an extra row—or grow a little extra—of fruits or vegetables to donate to local food pantries and hunger relief organizations. By sharing fresh, locally grown produce, participants help combat food insecurity and increase access to healthy food across Schoharie and Otsego Counties. New items at the Market this season include ready-to-eat plates of crackers, hummus, and veggies from King’s Rustic; zipper pouches with original artwork from Sasha Glinski Studios; hot and cold mushroom and herbal teas from Empire Natural Foods; ready-to-eat lunch items from the Horned Dorset Inn; handmade fabric toys from Mimikis Fibers; hot pepper jelly from Painted Goat Farm; body wash and car diffusers from SkinBiome.; rosemary-honey infused walnuts and lemon-honey walnut spread from Straight from the Hive.

“These new products add to the diversity of things you can pick up at the Market,” says Madeleine Zenir, Farmers’ Market Manager at Otsego 2000, which founded the market in 1991.

Thank you Cooperstown Fire Department for helping us spring clean the Cooperstown Farmers' Market! Madeleine, Jen, Ellen and Peg from Otsego 2000 spent the day dusting and cleaning, and then the fire truck and a great crew of volunteers came to hose and sweep out the Market.
