Corvallis Farmers' Market

Corvallis Farmers' Market 2026 season: Apr 18 - Nov 25
Wednesdays & Saturdays
9 am - 1 pm
Buy locally grown and farm direct in downtown Corvallis. Both operate 32 weeks a year.
(570)

The Wednesday farmers' market started out downtown, spent many years at the Fairgrounds, and is now downtown in a portion of the Saturday farmers' market site. The Saturday farmers' market is 10 years younger but has grown to fill 2 blocks of downtown. We are phasing out our combined page: https://www.facebook.com/Corvallis.Albany.Farmers.Markets. Instead, find us here and on our Albany Farmers' Market page.

Therapist: Let’s go back to what happened on Saturday. You mentioned feeling a complete crisis of identity at the farmers market.

Lion’s Mane: Dr. Chen, I just… I don't know who I am anymore. I grew up in a dark, humid room, thinking I had a clear purpose in life. SautĆ© me in butter. Sear me like a steak. Crab cakes! That’s all I ever wanted. But the market? It’s a circus.

Therapist: What happens at the market?

Lion’s Mane: The boundary issues, for starters. Complete strangers just walk up to my basket and pet me. No "excuse me," no "may I?" They just stroke my spines. Do you know how violating that is for a mushroom? And then they lean in real close and smell me. I’m trying to maintain some culinary dignity, and I'm basically being treated like a golden retriever at a park.

Therapist: That sounds overwhelming. How do you respond?

Lion’s Mane: I just sit there! I can't move! And the comments, Dr. Chen. The absolute lack of education. Yesterday, a guy in a fleece vest looked right at me and told his wife, "Look honey, cauliflower!" Cauliflower? Do I look like a cruciferous vegetable to you? I am a premium, brain-boosting, gourmet fungus. I have cascading white tendrils, not a chunky stalk. It’s insulting.

Therapist: It feels like they aren't seeing the real you.

Lion’s Mane: Exactly! But the absolute worst part, the thing that sent me into a spiral this weekend, was this woman who looked at me with these big, sad eyes and said, "Oh, you’re just too pretty to eat."

Therapist: And how did that make you feel?

Lion’s Mane: Devastated! I am supposed to be eaten! That is my entire biological and existential purpose! I didn't spend weeks absorbing nutrients from a sawdust block just to be looked at like a decorative center piece. I want to be sliced. I want to absorb garlic and white w**e. I want to trigger neurogenesis in someone's hippocampus! Being called "too pretty to eat" isn't a compliment, Doctor. It’s a death sentence by dehydration.

Therapist: It sounds like you're experiencing a lot of frustration because your core purpose is being denied by the people you're trying to serve.

Lion’s Mane: Yeah. I just want to find a nice chef who sees past my looks, respects my texture, and throws me into a screaming hot cast-iron skillet. Is that really too much to ask?

Don’t leave our Lion’s Mane hanging in existential dread! Grab your favorite recipe, and come fulfill its purpose this weekend.

šŸŽ NEXT WEEKEND šŸŽ On September 19, the Corvallis Farmers’ Market is welcoming OSU students and their families with special student discounts on market currency! Want to give your student the gift of fresh healthy food throughout the year, introduce them to a longstanding Corvallis tradition (45 years!), and support local farmers?

šŸ„• Come find us on the plaza at 1st and Jackson during the Saturday, Sept 19 market from 9 am - 1 pm for more information on the market, to purchase the currency packages, and to find out more about our $20 per market SNAP match program.

šŸ‡ Parents will be able purchase a market currency bundle that their OSU student can use to spend on anything at the farmers’ market – just like a gift certificate (that doesn’t expire). We’ll have easy healthy snack ideas for students who only have dorm fridge access or busy schedules. Our vendors offer farm direct veggies, fruit, meat, cheese, eggs, honey, pickles, jams, and more — plus bread, baked goods and restaurants.

šŸ„’ The Corvallis Farmers’ Market is on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 9 - 1 on the downtown riverfront at 1st St & Jackson Ave. Our season runs from mid April through November 25. We have the whole year covered with the Corvallis Winter Market taking over on Saturdays from 9-1 from mid January through mid April at the Benton County Fairgrounds.

Check our website locally grown.org and follow us for more.

P.S. Come see what fellow OSU students are up to at the market OSUAgSci :

The OSU Organic Growers Club tends land on the student farm and brings starts, veggies and fruits to sell at the market. Your student can also enjoy OSU’s Food Science and Technology program’s delicious Beaver Classic cheeses crafted with milk from the OSU dairy farm. (And yes, they have samples!)

šŸŽ‰šŸŽ‰šŸŽ‰ The market is open and we are celebrating a whopping 45 years of the Wednesday market!! Vendors have name tags on to show how long they’ve been a part of the Wednesday market. The current range is 1 season (welcome new vendors) all the way to 40 SEASONS (congrats, again Cheryl)!!!!

šŸ“½ļø Today, we have an exhibit on the market’s history. Come view our slideshow, talk with Rebecca Landis about the market’s history, share your memories, and add a dot to our timeline— when did you start coming to the Wednesday market?

A HUGE thank you to our Corvallis community for supporting a mid-week market all of these years. And thank you to all of our vendors for your commitment to feeding our community all of these years with fresh local food.

We’ll be celebrating all September long with special Wednesday events. Next Wednesday 9/16 market director, Taylor, will be sampling a favorite fall recipe with market produce.

Thanks to James Woods for the amazing micro greens art!

🧔🧔 Pumpkin spice milk 🧔🧔 is here from Rising Sun Dairy! It is INCREDIBLE.

And on a rainy day like this, I can imagine it would be great heated up in a steaming mug while curling up with a good book.
