Over 200 years ago, there was a great famine that struck Japan and caused widespread hunger. Zen monks settled in an area in southern Japan and cultivated multiple crops to feed as many people suffering from famine. This same land was inherited by the Sakamoto family in which they ultimately decided to plant tea. Is it a coincidence or was it meant to be? Regardless of one’s perspective, this special land has a history of helping people. This same land continues to intentionally grow and cultivate tea for the health of others.

Dear Tea Community,

A heartfelt shift is unfolding…
After years of sharing matcha with you at the Farmers Market, we’re taking a sacred pause. Our last market day will be Saturday, July 5th.

This pause gives us space to prepare for what’s next: the opening of our very first Chafinity Tea Stand, a space rooted in ritual, presence, and magic.

The matcha world is shifting too, harvests are limited, demand is rising, and we’re choosing to stay aligned with our values, even as costs change. We’ll be sharing more soon about what this means for our offerings and journey ahead.
