The Dog House

The Dog House The Dog House is an independent community pantry. Share, trade, donate, accept, made for everyone. Operates under the good Samaritan laws.

The building is in the shape of Peanuts' Snoopy Dog House to honor our departed sister who was a big Peanuts fan.

Lost contact info
Last week someone was dropping off cloths for the Snoopy House. Their mother needed a certain kind of medical advice that insurance would not pay for.. I told them I would look for one.. find it but don’t know how to let them know.

If you dropped off cloths at my driveway. Your mother stayed in the truck. Please contact me.
Thank you.

I got to go on a field trip. I was invited to go with the men that pick up the food for the Tabernacle Church pantry.
I meet Peter of the Isabella Community Soup Kitchen. He was picking up food for the soup kitchen. The soup kitchen is open for breakfast and lunch, Monday thru Friday. Open to anyone in need of a meal. Between breakfast and lunch, they serve about 100 people a day.

We stopped at Sam's Club, Walmart and Target. The amount of food these businesses was going to dispose of was staggering. Peter filled the Soup Kitchen's van and the rest filled the church's large trailer. That food was brought back to the church and on Tuesday ever bit was given away. They do that every week.

If you find yourself hungry in Mount Plesant, head to the Isabella Community Soup Kitchen.

Now that the weather is nicer and there is little chance the weather will ruin these collectible beer cans, I have been adding then to the Snoopy House. They are older and your dog might enjoy the turkey broth (it is not real beer), but again it is a few years old.
If you wish to open then save the empty can, I suggest opening them from the bottom. Collectors like to display the can as if it has never been opened.
Here is a current listing on eBay. Take what you need but be cool about it. The Beach (the new barbershop/salon also has a few of these cans of dog beer).

Reminder:

The M-46 Tabernacle Family Church food pantry is tomorrow (on Tuesday).
The pantry starts at 10am (10ish but be there by 10:00am).
To get there, leave Crystal as if you are going to Mount Pleasant. When you get to Farmer in the Dell, turn right.. drive for about 2 miles (less time that one song on the radio). It will be on the right side of the road. Line up on the left side of the church. You will need to go in to register.
I help unload the trailer of food. Lots of strawberries, beans, bananas, oranges. Some black berries and raspberries. There was much more,... frozen meat, bakery good, etc but I stuck with unloading the fruit because I knew where they wanted those items to be stored, but there was much much more.
You pull up, people with food swarm your car and fill it with groceries. You go home to unload and find out what you got. If you received something you or someone you know can't use, please think about donating it or trading it at the Snoopy House. Thank you.

Some unusual items have been left at the Snoopy House food pantry. These might not be typical pantry items but can be just as needed as some of the food. These are the type of items that saves people money so they can pay for food and other bills... and equally important it shows that people care. To who ever dropped this items off, thank you.
So cool that "Snoopy" was written on the big brown box.

I helped the M-46 Tabernacle Family Church with their food pantry on Tuesday. I learned a lot.
They gave away $10,000 worth of food, with each car taking home about $250 worth of groceries, fruits, vegetables, pastries. My job was to load 3 or 4 gallons of milk in most cars.
The sign says the pantry opens at 10:00am on Tuesdays but it seems the action starts closer to 10:30. I suggest getting there by 10:00am because you need to sign in. You can pick up food once a month.
You pull up. About 6 to 8 people fill your car with food. They had more food than the Snoopy House could handle. It was amazing seeing that much food being given away.
