Trying something a little different with this hatch after the ducklings surprised us early last time 🥚🐣
We moved these chicken eggs out of the turners a week before hatch day to see how they do. Now we wait.

Goats love chicken feed… but it’s actually really dangerous for them.
Chicken feed is made for birds, not a goat’s rumen, and too much can cause serious bloating and digestive problems.
If a goat gets into a lot of it, it can turn into an emergency pretty quickly.
One more reason we try to keep everyone in their own feeding areas around here.

Hatch day came early!
Moving eggs out of the turner and checking for movement.
First baby is here — still drying, so they’ll stay in while the rest catch up.
If you have to open your incubator during hatch, a light mist of warm water can help keep the membranes from drying out.
Waiting for the rest to follow.

Just some of a typical day. One chore always leads to more - brooder needs a refresh, second brooder needs washed and set up, sick gosling needs sun, duck pool needs washed and refilled.
