Hot food has heat from chilies (jalapenos, habaneros, serranos, cayennes, etc.) almost always either in the form of fresh cut peppers or dried (and often ground) peppers. People often call hot food spicy, and if food is described as spicy, I would assume that is a reference to the heat (from chilies).

Endorphins can be known as a trigger happy chemical, which gives you an instant feeling of pleasure from head to toe. It turns out that capsaicin - the active ingredient in spicy food - binds to a special class of vanilloid receptor inside our mouth called VR1 receptors.
