Fresh batch of birds are in the store! This batch is super juicy and nice fat birds from all the milk they ate! They aren't even frozen yet!

We had one for dinner last night.

Baked or breaded for fried chicken? We did both !

New born calf today, this first time mama needed assistance! My shirt wrapped around the chain helped me to pull out the calf without tearing up my hands!

Why did we wait 3 years to start stocking 1/4lb beef patties?

They are in the store now and so much quicker to prep for dinner!!!

Our new dairy cow is here! She is a HoJo (Holstein Jersey cross)

We do a couple Markets a summer at Beckers Nursery just outside of Albany.

We are still growing with hopes to grow enough supply for a local farmers market weekly!

Would anyone be interested if we did farmers markets?

We ordered “a whole cow”… and this is what showed up.

I’m staring at this cardboard box like… that’s it?
We expected a serious meat haul — something that would actually fill the freezer for months. Instead, we got this modest little collection of vacuum-sealed packs. Looks like a mix of pork chops, ribs, and some other cuts. Not exactly the “butchered half a cow in my driveway” situation I had in my head.

Don’t get me wrong, the meat looks good. But when you pay for a “whole cow” or bulk beef order, you’re kinda picturing a small mountain of protein, not something that fits in one regular Amazon-sized box.

Now I’m genuinely curious — what would you have expected to receive if you ordered a whole cow (or large bulk meat delivery)?
Because my expectations were clearly way off 😂
Anyone else ever get surprised by a big meat order like this? Was it worth it or did you feel shorted too?

Livestock sure can pull on your heart strings. Our dairy cow has to be culled due to an injury. This sure hits close to home for us as we won't have milk for a small time until we replace her, and we have been working with her daily during cleaning and milking and brushing.

On a glass half full note, she will make exceptional beef and we will have quarters or half beef options from her. She was finished on a 100% grass fed diet with alfalfa pellets and beet pulp. No doubt she will bless us not only with her milk for the past few months, but also her beef.

Gods plan doesn't always make sense in the here and now, but its always the best plan 🙏🙏🙏
