North Carolina Urge Your Legislators to Protect Raw Milk Herdshares! Hearing Is May 6!

North Carolina Senate Bill 639, “The North Carolina Farm Act of 2025," seeks to impact agriculture in the state in a number of ways, some good, others problematic. Review the bill in its entirety to assess how the various proposals might impact you, other area producers, and your communities.

They key section of the bill that we’re addressing in this alert is the potential ban on raw milk distribution, including via herd share arrangements (see page 13 of the bill). Currently, North Carolina law explicitly allows the distribution of raw milk under herd share agreements to consumers who choose this product as the best option for them and their families. This bill seeks to strip that right and make herd shares illegal by banning the distribution of all raw milk for human consumption (raw milk for human feed would still be permitted).

A hearing on this bill will take place at 11 a.m. EST on Tuesday, May 6, 2025 before the Senate Judiciary Committee. Please attend if you can so that your voice can be heard! If you are unable to attend, contact your legislators now to tell them to vote against this measure!

“Honoring Mothers with Compassion and Christlike Love”

Today, we honor the women who shape our lives with strength, sacrifice, and love. Yet we also acknowledge that Mother’s Day can bring pain—for those grieving a mother, those longing to be one, or those carrying heavy burdens as mothers.

I. Helping Struggling Mothers

Galatians 6:2 – “Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.”
• Struggling moms may face single parenting, financial pressure, mental health battles, or prodigal children.
• As the body of Christ, we’re called not to judge, but to help.
• Offer childcare, meals, prayer, and practical support.
• Be present without pressure—let your actions reflect Jesus’ heart.

Keywords: support for single mothers, helping stressed moms, biblical encouragement for moms

II. Comforting Those Who’ve Lost Their Mothers

Psalm 34:18 – “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
• Acknowledge grief today. Don’t minimize it. Honor the memories.
• Invite those grieving to share stories and light a candle or bring a photo.
• Remind them: God sees their tears and collects them (Psalm 56:8).
• Encourage them to lean into God’s everlasting arms (Deuteronomy 33:27).

Keywords: grieving on Mother’s Day, loss of mother, comfort for the brokenhearted, Christian hope after loss

III. Showing Support and Love for All Mothers

Proverbs 31:28–29 – “Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her.”
• Speak words of life and affirmation.
• Celebrate not just biological moms, but spiritual mothers, mentors, grandmothers, aunts, foster moms, adoptive moms.
• Encourage the church to make every mother feel seen, valued, and loved.

Romans 12:10 – “Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves.”
• Simple acts: a note, prayer, flowers, or service.
• Publicly bless mothers during church and give opportunities for testimonies.

Keywords: honoring mothers, how to show love on Mother’s Day, Proverbs 31 woman, faith-filled motherhood

Let this be a day of celebration, compassion, and Christlike care. Let us lift up, hold close, and love deeply every mother and every heart today. Whether rejoicing or grieving, may they feel the love of God through us.

When you choose organic eggs, you're supporting a system that values the well-being of the hens. Organic regulations mandate that hens have access to the outdoors and are raised in a cage-free environment. They are not subjected to the cramped, stressful conditions that are often found in conventional egg production. By choosing organic, you're promoting the humane treatment of animals.
