White Wines of Italy: A Tasting

Wednesday, September 16th at 12:00 pm

Join us at Fino (https://www.finocolfax.com/) for an educational & interactive seminar where we'll taste through lesser-known white wines from Italy. You can snag your ticket here (https://resy.com/cities/denver-co/venues/fino/events/fi-n-os-funky-crush-education-series-wednesday-2026-09-16?seats=2&date=2026-09-01) , hope to see you there!

Thursday Tasting: Austrian Wine Club

Thursday, September 3rd 5:00 - 7:00pm

Antifreeze Scandal of Austria

The 1985, several Austrian winemakers illegally added diethylene glycol - a toxic chemical used in antifreeze - to cheap wine to make it taste sweeter and richer like high-end sweet wines coming from the region.

Authorities had to destroy roughly 27 million liters of contaminated wine, with some excess bulk wine burned in cement plant ovens because it could not be processed safely through normal sewage systems.

Understandably, Austrian wine struggled to regain it’s international reputation. Austria responded by enacting some of the strictest wine laws in the world requiring intense testing and controls at every level of production.

Today, the Austrian wine market is one of the most dynamic and highest quality markets in the world. Austria has emerged as a driver of organic viticulture, crisp whites, and complex reds.

Tomorrow the 3rd, we'll taste through our wine club selections for September. All are welcome!

OTT Fass 4 Veltliner
This vineyard straddles the regions of Kamptal and Wagram about 1 hour north of Vienna. This area of Lower Austria (“lower” as in “down the river”) presents steep, terraced slopes supported by ancient desert sandstone soils.

A large diurnal shift - hot days and cool nights - create rich, spicy notes in the wines.

This winemaker practices biodynamic and organic farming and winemaking, allowing terroir to show from grape to glass.

White apple, citrus peel, and a distinct salty/saline finish make this a great wine for pairing with fatty foods like Schnitzel and well known for pairing perfectly with cruciferous vegetables like asparagus.

Weingut Berger Zweigelt
Located in the eastern pert of the Kremstal, vines grow on steep loess terraces that store heat during the day and reflect it onto the vines at night, producing wines with unique fruity, fresh and bright flavors.

This wine offers notes of tart cherries, cranberry, and red berries. We recommend a slight chill to unlock the bright red fruits.

This is a versatile wine to pair with food. A few ideas: Pizza, burgers or tacos!

Chef Series Week 16: Sometimes Pizza

September 4th 4:30pm - Sell Out

Sam from Sometimes Pizza (https://www.instagram.com/sometimes.pizza/) will be at the shop this Friday slingin' my very favorite pizza in the city!

Free Wine Tasting: Aquila Cellars

Friday September 4th 4:20-7:00pm

This week we're thrilled to host Jane from Aquilla Cellars (https://www.aquilacellars.com/) out of Paonia, Colorado!

"We make living, unfiltered wines that favor energy over power, freshness over richness. Our wines are uniquely Coloradan, grown at the highest elevations of North America and produced with the highest vibrations."

Colorado's wine scene is only getting more interesting and impressive with time. We're proud to carry both Aquila Cellars and The Ordinary Fellow at Bon Vin. They're both driving serious viticulture that respects the land here in the state.

With love & a little tannin,
Hannah

We’re excited to now have Anthracite Spirits Co. on our shelves! The two-person operation out of Crested Butte distills, bottles, and labels every single product by hand.

Next time you reach to make a Negroni, consider swapping out the Campari for their Red Lady which perfectly pairs with their Mountain Gin.

Friday's Food: Tacos, This Week's Tastings

Thursday Tasting: Chartreuse Alternative

Thursday, August 20th 5:00 - 7:00pm

If, like me, you've been searching far and wide for the coveted Green Chartreuse with no luck, it may be time to consider some of the interesting alternatives out there. These days, most Green Chartreuse allocations are going to restaurants and bars, and small, independent retailers like us are beginning to give up hope that we'll ever see this herbal French liqueur on our shelves.

That said, there are many quality, readily available, and frankly more affordable alternatives on the market.

This afternoon we'll be pouring samples of Faccia Brutto's Centerbe, an herbal liqueur very similar to Green Chartreuse, along with their artichoke liqueur (think Cynar), from 5-7pm.

Hope to see you there!

Chef Series Week 14: Beaujolais & BBQ

August 21st 4:30pm - Sell Out

Join us tomorrow for a lineup of wines, including two Beaujolais to be paired with our friend Rob's tacos!

With love & a little tannin,
Hannah

Friday Chef: Cult Pizza, This Week's Tastings

Thursday Tasting: Germany

Thursday, August 13th 5:00 - 7:00pm

Join us tomorrow to taste wines by Seehof out of Rheinhessen, Germany.

"For the wines of the Rheinhessen, the key is limestone. This is what gives the wines their glycerin-induced sexiness. This is also what gives them the flair of acidity, a presence strong enough to counter the lavish extract and to keep the wines from feeling gooey or too heavy. It’s a delicate balance, to be honest, but when you nail it… well, it’s impressive."

These wines are crispy, drinkable, and interesting. A great addition to your rotation and perfect for getting us through another hot week here in Denver.

Chef Series Week 13: Cult Pizza

August 14th 4:30pm - Sell Out

This Friday we'll be tasting a lovely lineup of French and Italian wines to pair with delicious focaccia-style pizza by Cult Pizza!

With love & a little tannin,
Hannah
