⭐️VENDOR SPOTLIGHT⭐️
Pocket Prairies is a small business supporting the growth of native plants in our community!
🌱Established 2023, this is Pocket Prairies’ third year with BFM!
🌱Pocket Prairies makes native planting accessible by selling in small, pocket-sized amounts- perfect for people who live in the city!
🌱According to owner, Kelly Jacobs, there are a variety of benefits to native plants in Iowa: “Native plants provide a lot of ecological services to us, meaning they hold down top soil, they clean water when it runs off from rain events, they enrich the soil themselves with their root structures…They look great and they do all of those services, but they also provide food for pollinators and important wildlife that is unfortunately continually on the decline. Our butterflies and bumblebees and other native solitary bees- beetles and every pollinator that you can think of- needs a place to call home and get food and so we need more native plants in the ground for that reason.”
🌱Ready to get started on your native plant journey? We have the perfect recommendations for you, whatever your circumstance may be: If your plant will be in full sun, try starting with BUTTERFLY MILKWEED! More shade? No problem! Try starting with COLUMBINE (and major pro: it attracts hummingbirds!)

Here at BFM we love being able to support businesses with a cause!💚 Don’t miss your chance to check out Pocket Prairies at our LAST MARKET!
