August 1, 1958, brothers Bob and Earl Green opened B & E Meats in Burien. At the time, there were probably 6 – 8 meat markets in Burien alone. Bob was 19 years old and Earl was 24. With hard work and youthful charm and energy, they quickly built a thriving business.

April 1, 1975, Bob and Earl purchased an existing market (Ranch House Meats) in Des Moines and opened their second location, B & E Meats and Seafood. Although things started out slow, things did pick up and soon B & E became a landmark and one of Des Moines oldest and best known businesses. April 1, 1999, after nearly 40 successful years in the meat business, Bob and Earl retired. But the two markets stayed in the family and are now owned by Bob’s son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Trisha Green. The business has continued to grow thanks to friendly staff and high quality, unique products. As you can see, April Fool’s Day is a lucky and prosperous day for the Green family. In 2004, Jeff and Trisha purchased the neighboring building in Burien – the old Gastro’s Deli. Just before Christmas that year, after totally remodeling the building, B & E moved one half block north into a new, beautiful store. With twice the size of the old store, they now can offer a much larger selection and ample parking for all their wonderful customers. B & E Meats and Seafood continues to serve the northwest with the highest quality meats, the freshest seafood including Copper River Salmon, and outstanding marinated products such as Teriyaki Beef Tri-tips, Kalbi Marinated Beef Ribs, Award Winning Beef Jerky, and always delicious Smoked Salmon Candy. Since that time B&E Meats has opened stores in Newcastle and Queen Anne in Seattle, B&E Meats is continuing to grow and is proud to be the local butcher to much of Western Washington!
