I hope you are all enjoying the holiday! We thought we would work on this holiday but our A/C is out (scheduled service tomorrow) and the customer volume today is so low that we have decided to close early. We will next be open on Friday, 5/29 from noon to 7 pm and will have a nicely restocked retail space if you would like to visit us then! Thank you for supporting our local independent food system!!

People are asking us: are there organic options at the Iowa Food Co-op? YES!

We have high standards for our producers and truly believe they all make great products. Organic certification is difficult and expensive, but these producers have what it takes.

Tip: to find even more organic foods on our website, select 'certified organic' in the production type search filter.

The cart closes at midnight! When the cart closes, your order is placed. Make sure you have everything you need for distribution this week!

We have good news and bad news.

Bad news first: It's mosquito season 🦟
Good news: Our producers make some great natural bug repellants!

Lula Lather's Bug Off is available in-store and online in spray OR solid lotion bar form!

Green Mama Soaps Bite spray is online only, but we have a tester bottle in store for you to try out.

Prairie & Flame Botanical bug deterrent is also online only. It comes in a sleek aluminum spray bottle with refills available.

If you do get bitten, Pickle Creek Herbs Itch No More salve will soothe your skin.

Don't forget to shop local online this week! The cart is open until Sunday.

PRODUCER HIGHLIGHT: Early Morning Harvest 🌱

Jeff Hafner has been farming in Panora since 1993 on the same acreage where his grandparents once raised dairy cows. In 2000, he converted the farm to organic practices. In 2010, an aquaponics greenhouse was added, using no herbicides or pesticides to grow herbs and vegetables.

Jeff believes in conservation on the farm because “The land and soil are not for us—we borrow it from our kids and their futures.”

Early Morning Harvest produces organic stone-milled wheat, rye, buckwheat, and corn. Honey from the farm is available - sweet from hives in the clover strips or robust from bees in the buckwheat field. Don't forget the edible flowers, greens, and herbs! ALL available through the Co-op. The cart is open, shop this week! 🛒
