While we’re taking a little break from produce, we’re staying busy making music this fall! 🎶

If you’re looking for something fun to do next weekend, we’d love to see some familiar faces at the Heart of Louisiana Series in Alexandria on Saturday, August 1.

This is being called “A Night of Originals,” so James and I will be sharing the stories behind the songs we’ve written over the years. some from before we met, some we’ve written together, and some inspired by this sweet life we’re building at home. ❤️

We’d sure love to visit with some of our McCann’s Produce family! Hope to see y’all there!

We wanted to let everyone know that our Customer Appreciation Gathering that was planned for this Saturday has been postponed until this fall. 🍂

With the summer heat and family visiting from out of town this weekend, we realized we’ll be able to make it a much better event by waiting for cooler weather.

We’re excited to celebrate with y’all when the temperatures are a little kinder and hopefully we’ll even have some fresh fall produce to enjoy together!

Thank you so much for supporting our family and our farm this season. We truly appreciate each of you and can’t wait to spend time together this fall.

Stay tuned for a new date! 🤎

Happy 4th, yall! 🇺🇸

A thoroughfare for freedom beat
Across the wilderness!
America! America!
God mend thine every flaw,
Confirm thy soul in self-control,
Thy liberty in law!

When you’re teaching your baby sign language… but you’re in full garden mode. 🌱😂

“All done!” 👋

Today is our very last CSA harvest of the summer. We are so thankful for everyone who trusted us to grow food for your family. It’s hard to believe these six weeks are already over!

One of my favorite books of the Bible is Genesis. From almost the very beginning, God uses a garden as the setting for some of humanity’s first lessons. I never thought too much about that until this year.

We expanded our garden and started farming a small pasture beside our house that hadn’t been worked in a few years. Even with landscape fabric, the grass, brush, thorns, and thistles always found a way to thrive in our subtropical climate. I’ve been poked more times than I’d like to admit!

It constantly reminded me of God’s words after the fall: “Cursed is the ground because of you… both thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you.” (Genesis 3:17–18)

The more time I spend outside working the land, the more I realize why Scripture is so filled with seeds, soil, vines, fruit, and harvests. They’re more than just illustrations, they’re direct reflections of life.

There are thorns and thistles. Weeds that take over faster than you expect. Seasons of waiting. Storms you can’t control. Fruit that takes patience. Nature mirrors so much of what we experience in faith, parenting, marriage, work, and the condition of our own hearts.

👇 Swipe through to see 11 specific lessons the garden taught me this season, along with the Scriptures that came to mind along the way. Which one resonates with you most right now?

That’s a wrap, Alexandria Farmers Market! ❤️🍅

What a season it’s been! We sold out today, and we truly can’t thank y’all enough for all of your support this year. Every purchase, kind word, and conversation at our booth has meant so much to our family.

Now it’s time to enjoy the rest of the summer, catch our breath, and start getting ready for beets, carrots, and mustard greens this fall and winter (Lord willing!). We’ll be selling those at our farm stand only this fall, and we look forward to seeing everyone back at the Alexandria Farmers Market next spring.

Thank you for making this such a wonderful season. We couldn’t have done it without y’all. ❤️

P.S. We’ve had several people ask about our McCann’s Produce merch, so we’re placing another order!

🌿 T-shirts: $20
🧢 Hats: $25

Send us a message if you’d like one! Pre-payment is required to reserve your order.

Today is our last Alexandria Farmers Market of the season! ❤️🍅🍆

It’s hard to believe another growing season is already wrapping up. Thank you to every single person who stopped by our booth, shared a recipe, bought produce, encouraged us, or simply took the time to say hello. Your support has meant so much to our family.

We’ll have plenty of eggplant today (both Black Beauty and our beautiful heirloom varieties!) along with homegrown tomatoes perfect for one more batch of eggplant dressing, fresh salsa, or a BLT before summer slips away.

🍆 Eggplant is 2 for $3 today!

If you love eggplant dressing, now’s the perfect time to stock up. We like to peel and dice the eggplant, toss it with a little olive oil, salt, and pepper, then roast it at 400° for about 30 minutes. Let it cool, portion it into freezer bags, and freeze it. Then, whenever you’re craving eggplant dressing this fall or winter, all you have to do is pull a bag out of the freezer and you’re halfway to dinner!

If you’ve been meaning to come see us, today’s the day! We’d love to visit with you one last time before the season ends.

💚 And one more thing…

If you’ve shopped with us this season, whether at the farmers market, our roadside stand, or as a CSA customer, we’d love to invite you to our Customer Appreciation Gathering here at the farm!

📍 Saturday, July 11
🕓 4:00–6:00 PM

Come enjoy some farm-fresh bites made with our produce, spend a little time with our family, and celebrate another wonderful season together. It’s our small way of saying thank you for supporting this dream.

We’ll also have complimentary bags of fresh produce to give away while supplies last! We’ll harvest whatever is still growing in the field that week, bag it up, and share it with everyone who comes.

We hope to see you at market today and again on July 11! Thank you for making this season one we’ll never forget. ❤️🌱

🍅 The very last tomatoes of the season.

Dottie and I picked the very last tomatoes off the vine yesterday. 💛

Besides our final CSA pickup next Friday, these are the last fresh tomatoes we’ll have this season. If you’ve been wanting to stock up for salsa, spaghetti sauce, canning, or just a good tomato sandwich, now’s the time!

We also have:
🍆 Eggplant — 2 for $3
🍈 Cantaloupe — $5 each

If you’re an eggplant dressing person, come grab a few! I’m making a batch today to freeze so we can enjoy a little taste of summer all year long. 😋

We’re winding down our produce season, and this may be your last chance to grab homegrown tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, eggplant, squash, zucchini, and a few Sugar Baby watermelons from our little roadside stand. 🍉 Open today till Sunset! 159 Highway 1206 Deville La (next door to Martha’s Chapel)

And today, we’re celebrating the guy who makes it all happen. ❤️ Happy Birthday to our fearless leader, the hardest worker we know, and the man who keeps this little farm (and our family!) going. From planting seeds months ago to picking tomatoes before sunrise, none of this would be possible without James McCann

If you’re out and about this weekend, we’d love for you to stop by the stand, wish him a happy birthday, and grab some fresh produce while it’s here!

Thank y’all for another wonderful season. We truly couldn’t do it without your support. 🌱🤍
