Dear friends,
We are sad to announce that on December 31st, 2015, we closed the Butler's Pantry.
My sister, Jenn and I bought the business from Maggie Smith in October, 2014. Our goal was to continue Maggie's high standards of customer service and excellent, delicious products.
Make no mistake. We love good cheese, and olive oil, and balsamic vinegar, and pate, and sausage and flat breads and gluten free crackers, and coffee and tea, and jams and jellies and accessories and chocolate, and everything else that is tasty and you can't get anywhere else.
Jenn and I have been very lucky to have had supportive parents throughout our lives. Our mom Kate, who has suffered from arthritis since she was 17 and our dad, Wayne.
My mother, a nurse, retired at 60 because of her arthritis. My Dad retired a few years later but was always able to help her accommodate for her disability.
Unfortunately in 2012, my Dad began to display symptoms of mini strokes (TIAs). This was his diagnosis until 2014 when he had a seizure. At that time the doctor diagnosed him with epilepsy.
Early in 2015 my father had a significant episode, and was finally diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia with Parkinsonism. He also has a seizure disorder because of the damage to his brain.
We struggled for almost a year and realized we could not run the business to the standards we wanted to and help take care of our Dad.
So, on December 31st, 2015, we closed the business. This was heartbreaking for both of us. But we knew we were doing the right thing.
We are so grateful to all of our customers. Those who love cheese as much as we do. But it had to be. We are sorry it has taken so long to post this. It has been pretty devastating for our family. And it was so hard to let you know.
We thank you all for your patronage and wish you and yours the best!
Love,
Jenn and Jill
