By popular demand, Farmer John with his volunteers is expanding his pick your own June bearing strawberry patch! 🍓🍓🍓 Strawberry renovation is the post-harvest process of mowing, narrowing rows, weeding, and fertilizing June-bearing strawberry plants to restore their health and ensure strong fruit production for next year! Key Steps for RenovationMow the leaves: Cut back the foliage to about 2 to 3 inches above the crowns, taking care not to damage the central growing point. Narrow the rows: Use a rototiller or cultivator to narrow matted rows down to 8 to 12 inches wide. W**d and thin: Remove unwanted weeds and thin out crowded plants within the row so they have proper spacing.Fertilize: Apply a balanced fertilizer (such as 10-10-10) to nourish the plants as they push out fresh new growth.Water regularly: Provide at least 1 inch of water per week through the rest of the summer to help the bed recover. 🍓
