One of the most exciting new additions to our hobby farm this season is the inclusion of these (and other) zinnias from Floret Flower Farm’s breeding program.
Floret, out of Washington state, has been developing a collection of common garden flowers in highly desirable pastel palettes not available elsewhere. After years of trialing and collecting seed they were released this winter to the public. You know we were waiting to order and got the goods for you!
What I love most about their program is that it focuses on developing varieties that are not able to be shipped. If florists and wholesalers want these flowers, they either have to grow them themselves or purchase them from a local farmer. In a country where nearly all florist and grocery store flowers are flown from overseas, this initiative to give local agriculture the “edge” is significant.
We are excited to offer bouquets that are unique, clean, fresh, and 100% local. Now…if we can get these seeds to bloom without killing the seedlings 😵💫
