Did you know that The Ovens of Brittany in Madison Wi. Is said to be the home of the morning bun in the states? Our nephew worked there and has fond memories of “The Ovens” and making those delicious morning buns. The restaurant and bakery helped to bring artisanal foods to Madison and our area of the Midwest.

A morning bun has been my favorite baked good since we lived in California. We start with homemade laminated croissant dough. A yeasted dough is layered with butter, rolled many times, filled with cinnamon and brown sugar, baked and lightly sprinkled with cinnamon sugar. Just like croissants, morning buns are best the day they are baked, but warmed up they are buttery and yummy! They also freeze really well wrapped in foil. Available Saturday from 10-3:00 or until we run out. 5401 E. Superior in the Lakeside neighborhood.

Thank you to all that we saw at the May 9 sale! It was so good to see everyone after our hiatus of 5 months. The Nice Girls have asked if we would like to be guests for the summer sales, and we of course said yes - They are very nice after all!
