Friends-

Today I ask you to sign a petition for the Birth Right Recognition of the Gabrielino/Tongva Nation (link in stories). www.gabrielinotongva.org

I am the daughter of Madeline Elaine Davidson, granddaughter of Lucia Velia Velasquez, great granddaughter of Joseph Frank Velasquez, great great granddaughter of Francisco Eladio Velasquez, and great great great granddaughter of Pedro Velasquez.

My grandmother, Lucy Velia Velasquez, listed herself and her children with the United States Bureau of Indian Affairs in 1983 for their blood degree of Indian Gabrielino/Tongva blood. She headed up the gathering of our Velasquez family throughout Northern and Southern California and served as a catalyst for our generation to regain pride in our heritage.

In 1994, after years of work to regather us and dismantle fear our tribe members emerged, regained their voice and California recognized us as “the aboriginal tribe of the Los Angeles Basin.”

Our tribe is the first of the Angelinos. We are asking to be federally recognized. Please sign in support and if you feel moved, please share (petition link in stories).

Sincerely,
Kipperlyn Sinclair

Join us, January 12th 🎟️ for a short film and Q & A with local farmers and culinary leaders…

“The Green Fork Initiative,” is a short film by presented by 💚

We believe that food is community. Throughout the 2023 season, we set the table to host four harvest lunches, get our hands dirty, and share a piece of Washington County’s food story.

Help us spread the word and show up for our farmers to talk 1 on 1 and learn more about how community can engage in supporting our local food system.

2023 Board Retreat.

Bummed that I didn’t capture a group picture of the amazing staff and board who are working together to grow an even stronger CSA and community based nonprofit in South Hillsboro.

This two day retreat was such a good experience in understanding the core of WTF’s diverse programs, the values that lead the farm’s mission, and the depth of commitment that staff give to provide meaningful skills to the youth engaged.

WTF is growing more than food, they’re cultivating long term community partnerships that positively impact and enhance everyday lives… 💚

Agricultural Heritage is truly about healthy soil, food, people, place, knowledge, and time.

Celebrate Great Grains 2023 brought together local farmers, agricultural producers, and community to connect to Washington County’s agricultural heritage…

At the core, single origin grains grown in the PNW are a healthy commodity. Growers and producers are working together to create unique products relevant to our land’s growing conditions and food-culture.

Working yesterday’s International Pinot Noir Celebration in support of was such a gratifying experience for and I.

The behind the scene pictures don’t do justice of the camaraderie and locally sourced food that was being shared with guests…

Service was smooth and Washington County chefs represented food values beautifully at this international event ( & 🔥).
