❗Food insecurity leaves millions of families wondering where their next meal will come from.
Chautauqua County faces one of the highest food insecurity rates in New York State, hovering around 15.4% overall and exceeding 20% for children. Driven by a combination of high rural poverty, stagnant wages, and transportation barriers, residents in both remote areas and urban centers like Jamestown and Dunkirk struggle to access adequate nutrition.
The Numbers: The county's food insecurity rate significantly outpaces the New York State average (13.4%).Vulnerable Populations: Families with young children, senior citizens, and those living in remote or rural regions are disproportionately impacted.
