Thank you to everyone who came to our stand last Saturday. Your generosity was overwhelmingly wonderful.
Some of our customers asked, "What will you be doing now that the stand is closed?" and "What happens to the produce still in the fields?"
Our volunteers are still picking, sorting, and packing tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, and watermelons. We are still providing fresh produce to local food pantries each week and will continue to do so as long as we have something to give.
This week we provided bushels of tomatoes and peppers to Ladies of Charity, Calvert Churches Community Food Pantry, Chesapeake Cares, St. John Vianney, and Grace Presbyterian. We also provided some corn, eggplant, squash, and over 100 watermelons.
Your support of our stand and generous donations enable us to provide good fresh food to those who need it.

We hope to see you at our annual Fall Festival on Saturday, October 3. We plan to have sweet potatoes, pumpkins, mums, apples, and crafts.
Time: 9 am until 1 pm
Place: Beside Smithville UMC on Ferry Landing Road in Dunkirk.
(Smithville UMC will also be having a yard sale at that time.)

It’s also a great opportunity to learn more about where your food comes from, including how it’s grown, harvested, cleaned, handled and prepared for sale. From farm fields to farmers markets and local shelves, every step matters.

Choose local when you can and take time to ask producers about their process. You may be surprised by how much care goes into the food grown and made right here in our region.
