Organic Farmers' and Artisans' Market at Cape Cod Fairgrounds will not be open for a 6th season and has closed permanently. FAREWELL to Green Harvest Organic
Farmers’ & Artisans’ Market
Dear Friends,
Six years ago, in June of 2011, my wife Cynthia and I desperately wanted to spread the word of organic and non-GMO food choices to our local area, as the food stores in our area provided very little
of it. There were certainly organic farms at farmers’ markets, but we wanted to have a farmers’ market where all of the tents offered organic/pesticide-free/non-GMO offerings of foods and skin care products. We started Green Harvest Organic Farmers’ & Artisans’ Market. We added local artisans as well to round out the Buy Fresh/Buy Local offerings to the community. We extended into winter to provide vendors and shoppers additional time to sell/buy local wares. Organizing and running the market has been truly a labor of love for us. There are many fine farmers’ markets and stores on the Cape at which a good variety of organic/non-GMO produce is available we feel that now is the time to say goodbye. We are so very grateful for all of the farmers, vendors and artisans who have been with us over the years. We truly admire the hard work and long hours you put in to raise your crops in a healthful and earth friendly manner, to create the foods and hand crafted products with such love and dedication. To our loyal shoppers who have come week after week, year after year, we are truly grateful. Thank you for supporting the market and all of our wonderful vendors. And last but not least, many thanks to Cape Cod Fairgrounds: the Board of Directors, and General Manager Wendy Brown, for taking the chance on our market and providing the wonderful space for us. Maintenance Supervisor and Staff, Mike Silvia and Shawn Silvia, thanks for all of your cheerful help over the years in so many ways. To Nannette Oldenbourg who co-managed the 2015 season – thank you so much for all your hard work and cheer. We all worked hard, had lots of fun, enjoyed the many people and their pups who came out to the Fairgrounds to visit. Please do shop the wonderful farmers’ markets at Falmouth Harbor on Thursdays, Mashpee Commons on Sundays, Mahoney’s market Saturdays in the off-season, as well as those Cape-wide in Sandwich, Osterville, Hyannis, Bass River, Chatham, Orleans, Truro, and Provincetown. We bid you farewell. And remember, you are what your food eats! See you at the markets! With gratitude,
