Our seniors need our help! Our Farmers Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) matching is dwindling in funding, and we want to keep it going.

Each week, we match federally-provided FMNP checks with Food Bucks to extend the dollars for our local seniors and WIC recipients, providing greater access to fresh produce directly from our farmers. For every $5 check, we are able to distribute $10 in additional Food Bucks; for every $10 check, we distribute $20 in additional Food Bucks! This program has been a lifeline for our neighbors and we want to keep it going!

⭐️VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT⭐️: Meet Rosanne Ramunni who has been volunteering for the markets for several years! Born & raised in Easton, she enjoys supporting various organizations and likes to give back to the community.🤝

Rosanne is one of our proud women on the Breakdown Crew with an abundance of stamina, strength & initiative 😎. It has been an absolutely pleasure having her support for what many times feels like the toughest part of the Market. We couldn't do it without you, Rosanne! Thank you! 🥰

Today we visited Apple Ridge Farm to learn more about their operations and see this dynamic farm in-action. Between field crops, high tunnel crops, trellised crops, hydroponic crops, chickens, pigs, a sourdough bakery, a fermentation house, and a farm store — this farm has their operations dialed in! We were especially intrigued by their on-farm composting, where the star of the show is *drumroll* leaves! 🍂 They insulate, keep w**d pressure wayyyyy down, and decompose quick! Speaking of “fermenting” they have a full-blown fermentorium, and have a full line of ferments including various krauts, brines, kombuchas, and switchel — everything you’ll see at Funky Ferments this Saturday (9/5)! It’s all part of the all effort to not let any nutrients go to waste. This is why we love our local farms and all they do to keep the land, and our bodies, nourished!

Thank you Brian for your insight and for showing us around. We learned so much and grew a deeper appreciation for all of the hard work you all do in Saylorsburg and beyond! 💫
