Boulder Belt Eco-Farm

Boulder Belt Eco-Farm Boulder Belt Eco-Farm is a small regenerative farm in SW Ohio that grows produce for our CSA & the Richmond FM

This is our 28th year growing local produce year round. We have a couple of high tunnels and decades of experience that allow us to provide our Farm Share members with a wide variety of food 10 months of the year. We were certified Organic from 1998 to 2002 through OEFFA and still grow using the skills and knowledge we learned during that period. We use these skills to improve our soils regenerati

vely and keep tabs on things through good record keeping

We have a free choice Farm Share, where our members build their weekly CSA shares to their specifications and get only what they want each week. We have pick ups at the farm Monday evening on Thursday evening at MOON Co-op, and the Richmond Farmers on Saturday mornings
We sell produce to MOON Co-op in Oxford
You can find us at the Richmond Farmers Market every Saturday, year round.

We often do companion planting to save space. Here we have radishes (heart shaped leaves) and spinach (long thin leaves) growing together. the radishes will be harvested weeks before the spinach is ready and will shade out a lot of the weeds that can impede the spinachs' growth. The radishes should be ready at the end of the March and the Spinach in early April. most will likely go to ur farm Share members. If you want in on the farm share goodness you can buy a share here https://app.squareup.com/dashboard/items/library/PZCBE4GOVNRP3M742SAM72W6

A skunk has moved into our store overnight, probably in the attic crawl space. Don’t know how to deal with it or exactly it got in
At any rate the building stinks

The kale is a lot bigger. It will be harvestable in about 2 weeks

The GOP in the House voted to slash SNAP and WIC. Few people realize that SNAP is a farm subsidy, the GOP seems to believe that SNAP only affects the poor. Around 1/4 of our farmers market sales are SNAP/WIC sales. Grocery stores depend on SNAP and WIC sales for likely a third of their sales, especially in rural areas where on average 12% of the population receives SNAP. That population spends their SNAP dollars at places like Kroger, mom and pop grocery stores, and farmers markets. Most farmers markets in the USA will double SNAP dollars usually up to $20 or $40 but at the RFM they do unlimited doubling due to a progressive grant from the Reid Foundation, so SNAP recipients can get hundreds of dollars to spend at the Richmond Farmers Market. Many people take advantage of this and are able to feed their families high quality food and double how far those benefits go. This translates into more sales for the produce, honey and meat farmers at the RFM that will likely be lost now that this farm subsidy has been slashed.

This is a lose lose situation that does not make America great by any measure except the one that enriches the wealthy even more while screwing over rural and main street America
