After a little more than 2 years of serving downtown Edenton, we feel the time is right to close our downtown storefront. This is not a decision that we made lightly. We have enjoyed our downtown presence and love our little market so much! However, today’s climate presents so many challenges that make it nearly impossible to run one, let alone two, small businesses while still having a quality family life outside of work. Our #1 business priority is and has always been making Old Colony Smokehouse a top-quality barbecue destination. Our Downtown Market was a perfect companion to that, offering more consistent and predictable hours, as well as more products in the downtown retail district. We hoped to be your fresh, quick lunch spot, your dinner-made-easy spot, your save-a-trip-to-the-grocery-store spot, your last-minute gift-spot, and anything else we could provide where a service may have been lacking. It fills us with joy to know we did that for so many of you for the past 2 years. However, filling all these needs has taken away greatly from our ability to focus on the continued improvement and growth of our first love, Old Colony Smokehouse. This week will be our last week in operation at the market with Saturday, Jan 27th being our last day. We will be clearing out all our inventory this week, so stay tuned for details of all the deals. A sincere thank you to all who have supported our downtown market. We hope you will continue to support us at the smokehouse for many years to come.
