Prairie Center Meats

Prairie Center Meats Your source for locally produced beef, pork, chicken, lamb and eggs. As local farmers, we appreciate the need for quality, responsibly raised foods.

Our on-farm market has meats, honey, soap and lotion, cheeses and other products from local farmers. We have created Prairie Center Meats as a way to market the products we raise on our farm in Edgerton KS to local customers. Our farm is open for visitors and we are available to answer any questions you have about any of our products. Try our products and taste the difference local makes.

I took these photos Friday morning while starting our morning with a pig round up. I loved the blue sky against the green of the soybeans. Something about the view just made me feel content, even though the task at hand was not the best. On the positive side, we did get a chance to take a good look at the pigs, and they are some very nice pigs at that.

No matter what the thermometer says, I’m willing in cooler weather with our meals this week! Today we had ham and white bean soup (made with an excess of canned white beans I found when emptying kitchen cabinets) and an Apple Pan Dowdy for dessert using local apples from Gieringer's Family Farm. The store is ready for you to come load up on your own goodness for the week - fresh bread, produce, local mushrooms and all of our meats. Ground chicken is back in stock this week, along with sausage patties. See you Saturday between 9 and 3!

Today was a satisfying day. We got a lot of work done plus we had an exciting delivery for each of us:
⭐️ Chad got a new lawn mower (hence the poorly kept yard of late)
⭐️ I got a new sheep sweater (bring on the cool weather!)
⭐️ And Jack had an extra special delivery from one of his new sheep - a ewe lamb!
⭐️ Liddy got to see the Amazon guy come, which is one of her favorite things.

Happy day. Satisfied, but tired.

We have a new t-shirt design coming soon! You can place your orders here and we’ll let you know when they’re ready for pick up. Bella Canvas t-shirts, cute new design from a local shirt company. And a chance to help hype your favorite farmers! Kind of a win-win-win!

We’ve been busy getting the shop filled back up for tomorrow! Kansas Bangers are back in stock, as are all the brat flavors. Produce and bread are in stock, along with full beef and pork freezers. Lots of great ideas for meals that highlight our local products to feed your eaters this week. See you Saturday, 9-3.

You all are very smart! Here’s the official scoop on the new sheep from the guy that knows things and has been bringing home weird living creatures since he was little. In full disclosure, Chad and I do own one of the 5, though I’m not sure which one. Jack’s comment last night - “I’m finally whole.” We’ll see if these really “complete” him. Enjoy the video.

We have a lot of new followers, so I think it’s time for a little “re-intro” to who we are and what we do!

Prairie Center Meats officially started in 2015 when we had some extra chickens to sell after a local market went out of business. Seemed like a great time to take our farm in a new direction and offer meat by the cut. We sold out of the house before joining the Gardner Farmers Market as an outlet. In 2020, we opened our on-farm store and have continued to grow and share our farm since then!

Yes - we have an actual store on the farm. It’s open Saturdays 9-3.

Yes - you can shop online. You can order online for delivery or pick up.

Yes - we do offer quarter/half/whole beef, half/whole pork and whole/half lamb when available plus bundles and subscriptions.

Yes - we know exactly where every meat product comes from. We raise the pork, chicken and lamb and co-op with one other farmer on beef.

Yes - we sell more than just meat. We have products from a variety of local farmers and vendors. You’ll be surprised how many things we have available!

Yes - any question you ask I will completely overthink my response. That’s how you know I care.

We are a family owned business and we do it all - emails, website, poultry processing, etc. There is not a truck to deliver more meat if we run out. We just have to wait for time and nature to get things ready. We have carefully chosen our breeds of livestock to make sure you have the best products possible. So occasionally we have to ask for your patience if we are out of something or if we are slow responding.

Do we love what we do? You betcha! Creating recipes, helping you shop, cleaning eggs, pretty much all of it! Do we love our customers? Absolutely! When you choose to shop with us, you choose to support our family and our dream. We choose to give you our best every week. Do you have other questions? Please ask! We are happy to share about what we do and why we do it. And I haven’t had a chance to overthink anything lately, so I need some practice.
