Good Morning ,
What a beautiful morning it is this morning. Lets talk about food, particularly veggies , particularly beautiful, locally grown vegetables 😋
Yesterday , I was beyond excited over the beautiful selection I had of locally grown vegetables . I reflected on how when Conscious opened we had 12 vendors and not near enough vegetables. Now, God has been so good and every day more and more farmers, ranchers , artisans join the team. I truly believe that Conscious is eerily similar to the movie "Field of Dreams"- if you build it they will come.
Now, I want to share a funny yet poignant story from yesterday. I was all excited and every customer that came in the door I was like "ermegosh we have purple cabbage and purple broccoli and purple cauliflower and PURPLE POTATOES. I would cheerfully exclaim all of this and most would smile and say okay cool and then they would buy bread and jam 😂 😆. When I got home last night, I was sharing this and I wont lie I kind of hung my head like Charlie Brown and I was like what am I doing wrong?? I said "people line up for my fruit trucks 🚚 but with my veggies its just casual. " My sweet man said "Honey, fruit is special and its sugary and you are bringing in things that are special and rare and the people who buy the fruit know its rich in flavor and it is special. He then said something that really changed my perspective and the burden I was carrying. He said "You get excited about vegetables. You are burdened and worried that famine is coming and people need to put food on a much higher pedestal. That is your why, your passion. All our lives vegetables have not been cool or exciting. How many times as kids did our parents have to force us to "Eat our Vegetables."
Wow. Mic drop. No more shame , no more feeling like I am failing . It is my passion. It is my calling and I will continue to have fresh beautiful veggies. I will to continue to excitedly chatter to every soul that walks in my door how awesome my veggies are. In my opinion my veggies are like the W***y Wonka golden ticket and I am going to keep living and doing like they are.
