🌱 Fresh CSA Herb Bundles Are Ready!

We were out early this morning cutting fresh herb bundles for CSA orders at Nelson's Herbs and Farm Market!

Depending on the variety, our bundles are specially portioned to give you the best harvest:

5-Stem Bundles: For larger leaf herbs like Sage, Rosemary, Thai Basil, and Purple Ruffle Sweet Basil.

2-Ounce Bundles: For smaller leaf herbs like Chives, Thyme, and Oregano.

🍅 Fresh Restocks + A Quick Pico de Gallo Recipe!

We are restocked and open for the week at Nelson's Herbs and Farm Market! Here is what we have waiting for you on the benches and in the refrigerators:

Lettuce & Greens: Lettuce is officially back after selling out midday on Saturday! We also have a few bags left from the weekend of both our Mild Greens Mix and Spicy Greens Mix.

Eggs: We are down to our last two dozen eggs until we restock on Saturday—grab them while you can!

Peppers: Just a couple of 8-oz. bags of Serrano peppers and one 8-oz. bag of Shish*to peppers left.

On the Produce Bench: Plenty of fresh slicing tomatoes and San Marzano tomatoes, alongside sweet candy onions, garlic, russet potatoes, and gold potatoes.

🍅 Quick & Easy Pico de Gallo Recipe

With all these fresh tomatoes, onions, and peppers on hand, it’s the perfect time to whip up a batch of homemade Pico de Gallo:

Ingredients:

3-4 ripe slicing tomatoes, diced

1/2 sweet candy onion, finely diced

1 fresh Serrano pepper, minced (remove seeds for less heat)

A handful of fresh cilantro (If you have it! Sorry ours all went to seed)

Juice of 1 fresh lime

Salt to taste

Instructions: Combine the diced tomatoes, onion, pepper, and cilantro in a bowl. Squeeze the fresh lime juice over the top, sprinkle with salt, and give it a good stir. Let it sit for 10-15 minutes to let the flavors marry, then serve with your favorite tortilla chips!

We recently took a trip over to visit our friends at Jake's Country Meats at their fantastic new store, The Farmstead, located right on M-51 just south of Dowagiac. Not only did we get to catch up with both Daryn and Nate, but we also got to enjoy some incredible Plainwell Ice Cream Co.!
